Patient Centered Design

Innovation Summit October 6-8, 2018

Leaders in health facility design took part in the Patient-Centered Design Innovation Summit on October 6-8, 2018 in Charleston, SC. Co-hosted with the MUSC Center for Transformation, participants collaborated with design practitioners, researchers, clinicians and patients to develop solutions for health facility accommodations.

Lessons From Child Life

The focus of the summit was to learn strategies used by MUSC’s Child Life Department for engaging patients and families and meeting their needs. With grant funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Institute will activate its Patient - Centered Design Student Alliance, an academic association established to enable a multidisciplinary group of students in health care and design professions to prepare to use patient - centered design strategies in their careers.
